Many blogs feature interesting dreams that their writers have had. The following is my attempt to disentangle a dream I had just before waking this morning. Note the abscence of characters or sensory details. These are the best sorts of dreams.

"Causality, cause" an event or condition responsible for a result. (corruption of American Heritage)

According to Hume, we can only perceive succession, not the sort of responsibility tha connects different events or conditions.

"Succession in time" is a vacuous notion of causality. Consider all of the pairs of events which have succession in time that aren't causally connected. At least I don't think most of them are connected, but it does seem like a common human failing to attribute a causal interpretation to any interesting succession.

Well, I had this dream at the beginning of September and the rest seems to be gone now. There was more.

An experiment in communicating with my students. The nonsense is being put elsewhere.
